Do you live in Panama City Beach, and are you struggling to lose weight? If so, you will enjoy this multi-part series that covers the various options available to you. For each one, we will provide the advantages and disadvantages paired with each option.

Do you live in Panama City Beach, and are you struggling to lose weight? If so, you will enjoy this multi-part series that covers the various options available to you. For each one, we will provide the advantages and disadvantages paired with each option.

One option is to join a Panama City Beach gym.

There are certainly a few advantages to joining a gym. At first look, joining a gym is relatively inexpensive. (However, depending on your situation, it may not be quite as cost effective as you originally think.)

Joining a gym is a nearly perfect option for people who already know what they are doing. For those who have successfully lost weight in the past through intelligent nutrition and proper, full-body exercise programming, gyms are a great resource for easy access to equipment.

However, I said “nearly perfect” for a reason.

Remember, we are specifically talking about people who already have the knowledge required to safely and effectively drop body fat. These people know that with a very small amount of equipment (literally small enough to fit into a closet in their home), they can achieve spectacular weight loss results.

This brings up an interesting observation, however. If they could achieve results with equipment that would fit into a closet, why would they join a Panama City Beach gym? A few factors certainly come into play. The most common ones are lack of discipline or an inability to safely exercise with weights around children.

Some people simply don’t have the discipline to work out at home. Getting out of bed in the morning to go to a different room in the house to exercise takes discipline. After work, the couch and television are simply too inviting for some people. For these knowledgeable people, going to a gym immediately before or after work is a great solution.

I’m certainly not casting judgment. I am simply pointing out that this group of people is choosing to pay $3600 over the course of 10 years for access to equipment (assuming $30/month for a Panama City Beach gym membership), versus purchasing $150-$200 worth of various pieces of equipment which will give them the same results. The $3600 is a WISE investment, if it means you are actually going to the gym and taking personal care and responsibility of your health and future.

But what about the vast majority of people who have tried dozens of different diets and exercise programs, but have been unable to lose weight?

The reality is that, for this much larger section of the population, there are quite a few more disadvantages to gyms than people realize, whether the gym is local to Panama City Beach or is a franchise of the “big box” chains around the country. For starters, MOST people who need to lose weight don’t truly know the best ways to lose the extra pounds, or they wouldn’t find themselves overweight, uncomfortable, and embarrassed… which brings up the first disadvantage to gyms.

Gyms in Panama City Beach and around the country are notoriously overrun by bodybuilders who are trying to put on more muscle than most people are comfortable with. There is nothing wrong with that. However, when a person is overweight and unfamiliar with the proper exercise programming for weight loss, going to a gym surrounded by large, athletic, lean people is absolutely intimidating.

One answer to this situation, of course, is to hire a personal trainer. Doing so, however, brings up the next disadvantage: hiring a personal trainer completely erases the gym’s advantage of being a relatively inexpensive solution, and you will still be required to deal with an intimidating, unfamiliar environment.

In summary, gyms are an ideal environment for bodybuilders, power lifters (if the gym will let them use chalk and do deadlifts), and a small selection of athletes who require large amounts of weight for proper training. Panama City Beach gyms are also a great solution for people who HAVE the knowledge to lose weight and can effectively implement full-body programming without becoming embarrassed or intimidated by the “regulars”.

Stay tuned for the next installment, where we will discuss the next option: hiring a Panama City Beach personal trainer.

What is better? A boot camp or a personal trainer?

Here are 5 reasons why boot camps are not just better as a business owner, but more importantly, why they are better for a client.

Here is an article I just wrote for another publication. What do YOU think? Leave me a comment at the end!

***********************************************************

What is better? A boot camp or a personal trainer?

Here are 5 reasons why boot camps are not just better as a business owner, but more importantly, why they are better for a client.

1) Better results.

Yep, it almost doesn’t make sense, but experience (both personal and from conversations with other international fitness professionals) is showing that people are getting better results in a group boot camp setting versus one-on-one personal training. In fact, clients are achieving a LOT better results (and isn’t that what you are there for?).

Why?

2) More support.

With personal training, we often get to know our clients pretty well and become “friends”. So, what happens when one (or BOTH) of you have a bad day? 5 minutes are spent talking about frustrations, circumstances, etc., and compromises are made like “we won’t train quite as hard”.

In a boot camp, that scenario just doesn’t happen. When 5-20 other people are there with a ton of energy, motivation, and enthusiasm, the workouts are harder because there is more support!

3) Better value.

NO matter how you look at this, unless you have some VERY specific, specialized needs (bodybuilder, high-level athlete, etc.), you will get better value with a boot camp.

Boot camps run from $200 – $300 per month for 20 sessions. In most areas, you will only get 3-6 personal training sessions for that much money.

4) More experience/higher quality trainers.

I will IMMEDIATELY recognize that there are exceptions to this rule!

However, in general, the trainers that have the ability to effectively watch a group of people can do so because they have helped a LOT of people and can very quickly correct mistakes.

Especially at the “big box gyms”, MOST of the personal trainers are within 3-12 months (scary version: even less) of their weekend certification. Not good.

5) Money-back guarantee.

No, I’m not crazy. This is good for the client AND the boot camp instructor.

Here is why:

Less than 1% of Panama City Beach personal trainers are ABLE to offer a money-back guarantee. Their employer would laugh in their face. Or, even if they are on their own, they are too afraid to offer it.

In a boot camp, a money-back guarantee is a GOOD thing because it removes the risk and gets people STARTED. In the client’s mind, they are thinking, “I’m paying way less than a personal trainer, and if it doesn’t work for me, I don’t like the session style, or I’m not happy in 30 days, I can find something else.”

So here is the great thing about it: if you are a great boot camp instructor and coach, you don’t have to worry about a money-back guarantee, because LESS than 5% of people will ever take you up on it.

(Respectfully, if you have a “refund” rate of higher than 5%, you probably need to work on your coaching skills, most likely in the area of nutrition and behavioral change for the client OUTSIDE of the boot camp or training session.)

And if you are a client, then you can go give it everything you’ve got, eat right, and get results for:

1) Less Money, with
2) No Risk, and get
3) More Experienced Trainers and
4) More Support from other clients, and
5) Achieve BETTER Results!

***********************************

So, that is the end of the article. What do you think? Am I crazy, or does it make complete sense?

Leave me a comment below (and I’ll look forward to seeing you at Results Boot Camp in Panama City Beach)!

One of our favorite Panama City Beach Boot Camp Recipes: Mexican Lasagna! Enjoy this AWESOME recipe that you can eat at any time of the day!

Mexican Lasagna

Enjoy this AWESOME recipe that you can eat at any time of the day!

Ingredients

1lb extra lean ground beef or turkey breast
½ large onion
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
1 ½ cups low-fat/fat free cottage cheese
1 cup fat free sour cream
1 jar (4 ounces) chopped green chile peppers
½ cup chopped cilantro (optional)
2 tsp ground cumin
2 ½ cups salsa
4-6 whole wheat/high fiber tortillas halved (Mission brand, carb smart is what I use)
½-1 cup reduced fat Monterey jack cheese (optional)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Coat a 13”x9” baking dish with olive oil spray

3. Coat large nonstick skillet with olive oil spray, and heat up on medium heat. Add the ground beef/turkey and cook, turning several times, for approximately 5 minutes or until no longer pink.

4. Remove ground beef/turkey and place in a medium bowl…pat grease off with paper towel and place to the side.

5. Wipe the skillet with a paper towel to remove the meat grease and cover again with a coat of olive oil spray. Place over medium heat again and add the onion and garlic. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally for 7-8 minutes, or until lightly browned.

6. Add to the ground beef/turkey in the bowl.

7. In another medium bowl, combine the cottage cheese, sour cream, peppers, cilantro, and cumin.

8. Spread approximately 1 cup of the salsa across the bottom of the baking dish. Arrange half of the tortillas evenly over the salsa. Spread half of the cheese over the tortilla layer followed by half of the ground beef/turkey mixture. Carefully spread a layer using all of the cottage cheese/sour cream mixture over the top of the beef. Repeat the layers starting with approximately 1 cup salsa, followed by a layer using the rest of the tortillas, topped with cheese (optional), and the last layer will contain the remaining meat. Sprinkle the top with the a little salsa and cheese.

9. Bake for 30 minutes, or until heated through. Loosely cover with foil if cheese begins to brown too quickly.

This recipe is SOOO good… Jeremy thinks that it should seriously be in a restaurant!

Here is the press release we sent to the papers, radio, and television with all the details about this Saturday’s charity fitness boot camp!

Bay County Residents Now Have An Opportunity to Support Local School Children As They Shed Some Pounds.

On Saturday, July 18th at 10 am, the new Results Boot Camp will be holding a charity fitness boot camp at Gallagher’s Gymnastics to raise awareness, money, and school supplies for the Panama City Rescue Mission’s Klothes for Kids program. You can attend the 45-minute training session by bringing a $10 cash donation or school supplies totaling $10 to the Gallagher’s Gymnastics facility, located at 7508 Holley Circle, less than 1 mile from the Hathaway Bridge in Panama City Beach. 100% of the donations will be given to the Klothes for Kids program.

Unlike military and gym-based group classes, the Results Bootcamp training program is held indoors on a spring-loaded and padded floor, which greatly reduces the chance of creating or aggravating joint injuries.

“After 14 years in the fitness and weight loss industry, we know what works. It takes intelligently designed programming, proper nutrition, and a lot of support to lose weight and get into great shape,” says Jeremy Nelms, who owns and operates the boot camp with his wife, Alissa. Alissa was once ranked in both singles and pairs figure skating and brings considerable expertise to the mental development, discipline and willpower necessary to get people back into their skinny clothes.

For more information about the charity boot camp, visit the Results Boot Camp website at http://www.ResultsBootCamp.com or call Jeremy Nelms at 850.890.6260.

Everything is finalized, and your life is about to change!

At first, we were going to keep the location a secret for a FEW more days, but…

We are very excited to announce that we have secured an AWESOME location for Results Boot Camp. Since some of you may have already seen our flyers going up around town, we’ll go ahead and reveal it here, as well…

The Bay County Results Boot Camp will be held INDOORS at Gallagher’s Gymnastics, less than 1 mile from the Hathaway Bridge!

That means you will be shedding pounds on a spring-loaded, padded floor.

Say goodbye to joint pain, shin splints, and sore ankles and feet.

Your hips and knees will thank you for not beating them senseless on the concrete and hard-wood or rubberized gym floors.

Get ready to feel lighter almost immediately, as the springs and padding cushion and absorb the impact of your exercises.

Results Boot Camp is easy to get to, literally from anywhere, whether it is Front Beach, Middle Beach, Back Beach, Thomas Drive, or even Panama City. As a matter of fact, we already have 2 people signing up from Southport!

You can easily zip home after our morning class and still have PLENTY of time to get ready and get to work… but YOU will be filled with energy from your workout!

With our evening class, you won’t have to worry about traffic after work. Just take Back Beach or Middle Beach to Front Beach, and you’re nearly there!

You will even make it home in time for plenty of quality family time… or those 7 pm shows you enjoy!

Speaking of the couple signing up from Southport, registration will start on Friday, July 17th. We are going to be giving some GREAT deals to those who signup ON Friday. We’ll share some more information about that in just a few days, but for now, you WANT to be on the “Early Bird” notification list.

We are going to reward you QUITE well for taking action on Friday. And the people on our Early Bird notification list will get about an hour head start, so…. *wink*

Over the next 7-10 days, we’ll be sharing even more information about Results Boot Camp. We’ll also bring you a few videos that show some of the exercise you’ll be doing, as well as talk about a charity event we are hosting on Saturday, July 18th, so that you can try out Results Boot Camp BEFORE it even officially starts!

(Go ahead and keep your calendar open for 10 am on Saturday, July 18th.)

That’s it for now! Be sure to leave us a comment below with any questions you may have. Enjoy your Friday evening, and we’ll be back with more information on Monday… if not sooner!

Take care,
